Student Data & AI Safety
Last updated: 13 June 2026
Important guidance for using Lorikeet responsibly with student information, SEND supports, reports and AI-generated resources.
1. Who Lorikeet is for
Lorikeet is designed for adults: teachers, homeschool parents, relief teachers, school leaders and education professionals. It is not intended for unsupervised direct use by children.
2. Student data principles
- Enter only the minimum student information needed for the task.
- Use initials, pseudonyms or general descriptions where possible.
- Only enter personal or sensitive information where you have authority and it is permitted by your school, organisation, department policy, parent/guardian consent arrangements and applicable law.
- Do not enter safeguarding, child protection, medical, psychological or highly sensitive details unless necessary, authorised and appropriate for an AI drafting tool.
3. Tools needing extra care
Use particular care with Report Writer, Support Profile, Social Story, IEP Goal Generator, Risk Assessment and Policy Guide. These tools can create useful drafts, but outputs must be reviewed and adapted by a qualified adult who understands the student, school context and relevant policies.
4. AI safety statement
- AI can make mistakes, invent details, miss nuance or produce unsuitable wording.
- Always check factual accuracy, curriculum alignment, tone, accessibility and age suitability.
- Do not use AI outputs as the sole basis for decisions about diagnosis, disability adjustments, behavioural consequences, assessment outcomes, placement, risk, safety or wellbeing.
- For SEND, disability, wellbeing or learning support matters, follow your school's processes and involve appropriate professionals.
5. Training and data use
Lorikeet's policy is not to sell student information and not to use customer prompts, generated resources or student information to train Lorikeet-owned AI models without clear opt-in consent. Third-party AI providers process prompts to provide the requested output under their API terms and data handling settings.
6. School procurement
